KLPI is Louisiana Tech’s campus-based, student-run, alt-rock radio station. Specialty Programming occurs from 8PM–Midnight, allowing student members to create and host both talk and musical shows.
Ever wondered what the letters LPI stood for in KLPI? KLPI was originally founded in 1966 by a group of Electrical Engineering graduate students at Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, the previous name of Louisiana Tech University. It was founded as an AM station under the call sign WLPI, running in a rented space in downtown Ruston.
KLPI was eventually purchased by the University, making it an official component of the institution. Since then, KLPI now operates on-campus within our own facility designed in association with the Louisiana Tech School of Architecture.
